CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Who are you?
Why are you here?
What do you want?

We seek the most ordinary. The quietly resilient. The warrior who, as Sufi poet Hafiz describes, courageously takes off his or her mask and “sits, giving, like an illumined planet on the earth.” The unassuming heroes and heroines who, perhaps inspired by their own experiences, are finding creative ways to make a difference. Send your unpublished narratives, the ones held in the body and etched in skin. Send your real and authentic and inspiring stories. Witness. Speak up. Be witnessed.

Submission Guidelines

The submission period is currently OPEN through March 1, 2014.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the mission before submitting. All submissions should be approximately 2000 words or less. We accept:

Creative Nonfiction – experimental, prose, prose-poetry/ hybrid
Critical and Lyric Essays – MLA citation with endnotes
Interviews – also, if possible, include a photograph of the interviewee
Book Reviews – also, if possible, include a photograph of the book
Visual Art – high resolution, 300 dpi, original artwork only

Please send previously unpublished work as an attached Word document (.doc) to submit [at] unpublishednarratives [dot] com. In the body of your email, please include your full name, email address, a brief bio and a headshot.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify us immediately if your work has been accepted for publication elsewhere.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
The Editors
